In today's market, there are countless face creams to choose from, and they are increasingly specific for each type of skin and person. The problem with such a wide offer is that many times we do not know which of them to choose, since, often, we do not know what care our skin requires.
Well, what will condition the fact that a specific cream or another suits us will depend mainly on our age and above all, on the type of skin we have.
What types of skin exist and how to differentiate them?
Oily skin
They are skins that present shine, especially in the areas of the forehead and chin (Zone T). This type of skin is usually characterized by having a larger pore size than those found in dry skin and by an overproduction of seborrheic, responsible for the appearance of shine and pimples. Generally, this seborrheic secretion mantle keeps the hydrolipidic mantle hydrated, so these skins do not usually need very moisturizing creams. Although there are times when we can find oily skin, but at the same time dehydrated, in these cases, we find skin that has a slight flaking, rough and dry to the touch.
Dry skin
They are skins that, contrary to what happened in the previous case, present a decreased seborrheic secretion, which is why they are fragile and easily irritable, which means that they are skins that react through the appearance of erythrosis to moderate environmental stimuli, internal or emotional. These people have rosacea, often from puberty.
On other occasions, having dry skin can be the result of external factors such as applying soaps or highly alkaline facial products that are aggressive against the skin.
Mixed skins.
It differs by having the characteristics of oily skin in the T zone and in turn presenting dry skin in the lateral zones.
What type of cream should I choose?
As we have already mentioned before, this will depend on the type of skin you have and also on the condition of your face that you want to treat or prevent.
Wrinkle creams
Although we commonly associate this type of cosmetics with people of a certain age, the truth is that from the age of 25 it is advisable to start using these creams, since good prevention will help delay the appearance of wrinkles.
These creams usually have active ingredients such as hyaluronic acid (hyalunorate sodium), a structural element of our skin, or antioxidants such as coenzyme Q
Hydrating creams.
Intended mainly for drier skins, since these creams manage to retain the water present in our skin, mainly by forming a layer that prevents its evaporation or by capturing water through hygroscopic compounds such as glycerin. .
Anti-stain creams.
As we age, spots tend to appear on our skin, often dark, although they can also be white, giving us an older appearance. To treat these spots there are creams with active ingredients that unify the tone of our skin, such as those derived from vitamin C. Of course, this effect is no longer noticeable the moment the product is stopped.
Antioxidant creams.
Oxidation is a process that is due to both internal factors (due to the body's own metabolism) and external factors (eg solar radiation) and that will damage our cells, thus accelerating our aging. Thus, creams formulated with vitamin E (tocopherol), niacinamide or resveratrol, all of them good antioxidants, will slow down this process.
